Telephone to Computer Recording Interface £29.99p

No one should be without one of these!

Our telephone to computer recording interface comes ready-made only. It is a small black plastic box that measures 45 mm x 30 mm x 20 mm. approximately. It has a cable coming out of one end which is fitted with a BT plug as standard, (the length of this cable is two metres, but can be extended at the cost of 50p per extra metre, please advise us when placing an order) it also has a cable coming out the other end (about 300mm long) which is fitted with a standard 3.5 mm Jack plug. The telephone plug, plugs into the ordinary BT telephone wall socket, whilst the Jack plug is plugged in to your line in socket, or microphone in socket, on your computer. Details are given below regarding the free software available, ( please contact us for details of this readily available freeware or see below for details) that will enable you to record all incoming and out going telephone calls, directly to your computer. Using the optional file compression, included with the software, you are able to reduce the size of the files, enabling you to store hundreds of hours of telephone conversations on your hard drive. The interface is absolutely silent in operation, and there are no telltale clicks or crackles on the telephone line. The person you are talking to will have no idea that they are being recorded, unless of course you decide to tell them at the start of the conversation, which will then normally make the recording of the conversation quite legal, but this may vary from country to country so please check your laws locally.

The software, is readily available freeware, all but one of them, which is called, voice e-mail pilot, restricts recording, to manual operation only, i.e. you must manually press the record button to start recording the telephone conversation, and press the stop button at the end of the telephone conversation, this will then save the recording conversation to your computer's hard drive. There are provisions within all these programs, to upgrade them, for an extra fee, which is described later, to make them fully automatic.

The first programme, is called voice e-mail pilot

This program is freeware, (http://www.colorpilot.com/download.html ) and as described earlier is the only programme, that is voice activated in its standard package, this means that you can click the start button, and the programme will sit waiting for a sound, from your telephone, through either the line input socket or the microphone socket, when it hears a sound, It will start recording automatically to your hard drive, and it will stop automatically when the sound stops, you must then save it manually to your hard drive.

There are provisions within all of the following software programs, to upgrade to make the recorder fully automatic, i.e. the telephone conversation will start recording when the handset is picked up, and stop when the handset is put down, and then it is saved automatically, and reset itself to wait for another telephone call. As the software provided is from a third-party, then you will have to pay them directly an upgrading fee which is currently around about £15.00 There are four programs available with the software.

The second Program is called Dictation Buddy.

http://www.highcriteria.com/main_productfr_dicbuddy_info.htm this is a 30 day free trial, the full programme can be purchased for about £17.00 this will then enable fully automatic recording. This programme is the one I have personally used, and I have found it to be excellent!.

The third programme is called Reconphone,

http://www.reconphone.com this is a permanently free programme, which means you will have to manually start and stop the recording. I have only tried the free version & not the paid for version. This programme is also upgradeable for about £15.00 to the full version which will then enable you to make fully automatic recordings. This programme also includes the facility to hide the programme completely when recording, thus you can make recordings of all telephone calls on your telephone without the user being aware that they are being recorded.

The fourth programme is HIQ Recorder.

This program is called, free HIQ Recorder, www.roemersoftware.com I haven't tried this program myself but have been told it works ok. This programme also requires manual operation to start and stop the recording, but once more it is upgradeable, to be fully automatic, for about £16.00.

ATS 1. TELEPHONE RECORDING INTERFACE £20.99p

Not a transmitter: - But a very useful bug! Plug this little gadget into the telephone wall socket (or connect anywhere to the telephone line) and then plug the other two leads into an ordinary cassette recorder, (not supplied) and you have got............. A telephone-recording device. When the telephone is used (incoming or outgoing) it will silently, & undetectably turn the cassette on & record both sides of the conversation without either party being aware of this! & When the call is finished it will switch of & wait for the next call, it will do all of this AUTOMATICALLY! Also it will do this to all the telephones connected to that line, even if they are in another room! So if you have the cassette say, upstairs & the phone is used downstairs, it will still record both sides of the conversation. Needs no batteries powered from line.

NOTE: Cassette recorders with REMOTE sockets are quite difficult to obtain now but any machine that has a MIC socket can be easily adapted. The REMOTE socket is simply a 2.5mm jack socket (one with break contacts) that is connected in series with the low voltage positive power lead that comes from the battery compartment inside the cassette player. To install a socket you simply cut the lead and connect the jack plug in series so that power runs through the closed contact when no jack plug is inserted and through the ATS when the jack plug is inserted. It really is that easy.

This little device does exactly the same as our ATS1 kit described above, but can only be used with cassette recorders that are voice activated or Vox operated, and that have a microphone in (or input) socket fitted to them. This kit requires no batteries to operate them & is very easy to build.

Whatever the noisy reason, you can now once more take control of your own environment, and ensure that peace and tranquillity will be regained in your home.

Nuisance noise usually consist of various frequencies and amplitude of noise waves, the fact that it can be so irritating is because the noise level rises and falls in a random manner, over which you have no control,….. for example, you could be trying to read a book, and a small dog starts yapping a few houses down from yours, initially this will distract you from your book, and then when you start to read again the dog may bark again! This may happen once or twice or a few times, distracting you each time from your book, but then you try to read again and you are anticipating that the dog may bark again so distracting you even more from your book…. it is a vicious circle! And the end result is that you are not enjoying your book any more.

How about the same scenario, and your neighbour decides to put on their hi-fi…. All you can hear is music in the background albeit at a low level, and the distinctive thump! thump! thump! from the bass notes, which is annoyingly distracting.

Are you just nodding off at night, and a car or two or perhaps a lorry will pass your window, then all will be quiet again, until five minutes later another car comes past perhaps with music being played loudly. These are just a few examples of the very many causes of unwanted noise that can make your life quite unbearable and intolerable.

The reason why these noises can be so distracting and annoying is because they are NOT constant, when music plays there are musical notes with spaces in between and the volume of each goes up and down. When the dog barks there is a space between each bark, when cars go by and there is a noise of the cars followed by silence followed by noise of the cars, and most sounds that disturb us are just like this, it is why we developed our ….

When you switch on the …NUISANCE NOISE BUSTER…. you are creating a wall of sound that is constant in frequency and amplitude and fully adjustable by you to actually blank out the sound that is annoying you. The unit consists of amongst other things, a random white noise generator that can be altered by the onboard controls, which are adjustable by you, this will then cancel out the noise that is annoying you. Which is played out through the speakers. There are six different onboard controls together with a volume control, to basically counteract any sound that may be interfering with your life.

In practice when the noise occurs that is annoying you, you turn the unit on and adjust the controls until the noise is neutralised, you then turn the volume down until it is just louder than the offending noise. Because the noise that you are creating is constant in the background and never alters, then you quickly become accustomed to this new noise and within a short space of time take no notice of it whatsoever, and because it is constant it effectively drowns out the offending sounds that are bothering you. It is so effective that I always switch mine on at night to get a good night's sleep without the noise of traffic bothering me. So if you want to bring a bit of sanity back into your life, and once more take control of your own environment, then this unit is for you! Obviously if your neighbours are blowing your walls down with music, then I'm afraid this won't work, but if it is an irritating noise of fairly high volume, then this unit is very effective.

This inexpensive detector can help you to check your phone system for the presence of telephone bugs and taps. It uses two LED's to indicate if the line is clear or not. It is powered by the phone line itself and therefore requires no batteries and can be connected permanently without fear of it interfering with the normal use of the phone. Dimensions 30x40mm.

It is an unfortunate fact of modern life that any home or company office is the potential target for electronic eavesdropping devices. And as these devices shrink in size they become less obvious to the untrained eye and therefore difficult to locate without the aid of an electronic detection device or the expensive services of a detective agency. This circuit will allow you to sweep a building for the presence of transmitter bugs. It also incorporates a bug location facility that enables you to pin point the exact position of any devices found. By using this kit you can ensure the privacy of your personal life or business interests at a fraction of the cost of commercially available units.

If you conceal a tape recorder in you pocket at a meeting for instance, then the Mic Amp will be invaluable. All that these little tape recorders require is a good, strong, and clean audio signal to the microphone socket on the recorder; this little circuit will do exactly that. Internal microphones used in small pocket recorders are not very high quality, and being situated close to the recorders electric motor, then they will pick up all of the noise & electrical interference, this is why they are only useful when held close to your mouth, when speaking.

Our Mic Amp gets round this by boosting & cleaning up the signal before being fed to the recorder mic socket. The Microphone can be either board mounted for normal room recording, or extended up to one meter away from the board, if it is to be concealed on the body somewhere, (please remember that the microphone supplied with this or any of our kits is about the same size as a shirt button.) or disguised into a tie clip or Brooch etc.

Measuring just 12mmX 21mm the Mic amp operates from an ordinary 9-volt battery, which should last at least 48 hours.

Infra-red motion detector Transmitter & a Receiver Alarm. Also known as a body detector.

These units operate just the same way as the passive infra-red detectors (PIR) connected to your burglar alarm system do. Do not confuse these units to inferior ones advertised elsewhere!

Just place the wireless motion detector Transmitter, to watch the area where you want to detect movement, & when somebody moves in front of it, then it will wirelessly via a radio signal, activate the receiver up to 400 foot away, to sound an alarm, similar to a doorbell sound, thus alerting you that somebody is nearby.

These units are just great for letting you know when other people are around, just take the receiver with you (it has a belt clip on the back so just attach to your belt, or use it freestanding as it is), up to 400 feet away from the transmitter, and then for instance, you could detect somebody walking through a door into a room. You could detect when somebody enters a building and you are say upstairs, you could place it watching your garage, or down the driveway waiting for a car to pull up, you could detect intruders in your garden, or around your property. You could detect somebody approaching your front door or garden shed; in fact its uses are only limited by your own imagination.

Both the transmitter and the receiver are battery-operated and if using normal alkaline batteries, then they should last for months depending upon how often the units are triggered, but in normal use you should get a couple of months or so before they need replacing. These are all brand-new units, ready made, & not kits, and come complete with all written instructions, just insert batteries and switch on and away you go!

SPECIFICATIONS

There are numerous factors that can effect the operating distance of our, (or anybody else’s) transmitters, some of the things are wall thickness, Antenna position, Terrain, Atmospheric conditions, Battery condition, Receiver Sensitivity, and operating conditions etc. etc.

For example the range in a built up area would be substantially less than in urban conditions, and whilst all figures quoted for range are given in good faith it must be borne in mind that these results were gained using line of sight operation between the transmitter & receiver in open countryside.

What a good operative should do any way, is to get as close to the target as possible for a good clear strong signal.

Having made the preceding points however, usually SPI. Electronics equipment will give satisfactory results, but no responsibility can be accepted for reduced range especially when using a cheap insensitive radio receiver.

FREQUENCY

All of the Transmitter kits, & ready-made kits, sold by SPI. Electronics, are fully tuneable over most of the FM Band i.e.. 88-108MHz,this means that you could listen in using an ordinary FM radio. For added security they are tuneable over some of the airband frequencies, but then you will only be able to listen in on an Airband radio or scanner.

The frequencies can be adjusted by the owner, by means of an on board adjustable component

Although it is not illegal to purchase or own the products we sel1, within the UK, it is an offence to transmit a radio signal within the European Community, this includes the UK, without an appropriate licence.
